Francis Marion Hotel
Located just a short walk from the Gaillard Center, the historic Francis Marion Hotel is the official host hotel for Carbon 2026. Overlooking Marion Square in the heart of downtown, the hotel offers elegant rooms, modern amenities, and easy access to Charleston’s vibrant dining and shopping scene.
A special conference rate is available for Carbon 2026 attendees on a first-come, first-served basis. We encourage you to book early, as rooms are limited and demand in Charleston is high during the summer months.

Academic Housing
We’re pleased to offer on-campus Academic Housing at the College of Charleston for students, professors, and post-doctoral researchers attending the conference.
Dormitory accommodations provide a convenient and affordable way to stay close to the conference activities throughout the week.
Housing Dates:
July 12 – July 17, 2026
The College of Charleston will provide the following linens and essentials for your stay:
- Sheets, blanket, and pillow
- Washcloth, hand towel, body towel, and bath mat
Please note: Shampoo, conditioner, and hair dryers are not provided.
Room Options
Single Room — $500
Private dorm room with one bed for the duration of your stay (July 12–17, 2026).
Double Room — $400 per person
Shared dorm room with two beds. To book a double room, you must select your roommate in advance and provide their name during registration.
Important Registration Deadline:
All academic housing reservations must be completed no later than June 1, 2026. Space is limited, so we encourage early registration to secure your preferred room option.

Travel Information
Closest Airport:
Charleston International Airport (CHS) – approximately 12 miles from downtown Charleston.
Getting to the Gaillard Center:
- By Car or Rideshare: The drive from Charleston International Airport to the Gaillard Center takes about 20–25 minutes. Taxis, Uber, and Lyft are readily available at the airport.
- Parking: Paid parking is available in the Gaillard Center garage located at 32 Alexander Street, with additional public parking lots and street parking nearby.
Charleston is a walkable city, and most major attractions, restaurants, and hotels—including the Francis Marion—are within a 10-minute walk or short drive from the Gaillard Center.
